What is the Voices Advocacy Council?

  • VAC leaders are trained in our advocacy curriculum to carry out internal and external training to help families get engaged in advocacy and feel empowered to influence change.

  • We bring together low-income women and their supporters to advocate for policy changes that improve their lives and promote economic self-sufficiency.

  • We educate Advocacy Council members in the legislative process.

  • We equip members with the skills necessary to advocate for themselves and their families.

Benefits of Membership

  • Engage in skill building workshops and participate in lobbying visits, testify at legislative hearings, respond to media requests, and serve on task forces.

  • Learn about the legislative process.

  • Train in advocacy basics, such as voting, public speaking, and blogging.

  • Network with Council members and community leaders.

Current EMPath program participants and alumnae interested in improving the lives of low-income women.
